Our conference theme, Voices of the Elders, honours the First Nations, the first peoples of Canada, on whose traditional territory we will meet, and the elders of all nations, whose stories we preserve. The perspective we gain from working with elders assists us in understanding our world and contributes to success in our businesses and our lives.

Who among us has not seen the world differently after hearing an elder’s story? Who has not wished she or he could do an even better job of capturing an elder’s wisdom, of helping an elder share his or her values, of ensuring that more elders’ stories are saved for generations to come?

At the conference, we will acknowledge the valuable lessons we learn from the powerful voices of the elders, as well as those of our personal history colleagues and the experts who share their knowledge with us. We will develop skills and expertise that will make us more successful personal historians. And we will celebrate together, reconnecting with friends and making new ones, sharing good times and laughter with kindred spirits.

We look forward to seeing you.
