IN BRIEF: Working with the University of Central Florida, E-Z Photo Scan has just completed an unique History Harvest event in the oldest city in Central Florida. (Sanford, FL incorporated in 1877.)
  Orlando Sentinel, Tribune Company
SUMMARY: The Department of History, University of Central Florida, the 2nd largest university in the U.S., has teamed up with E-Z Photo Scan in a public-private venture to begin offering History Harvest events to Central Florida communities. U.C.F. staffed the event with professors from the Department of History, history grad students, facility support and others. E-Z Photo Scan brought a preservation team. The U.C.F. team received and registered all those coming to the History Harvest, working with each of them individually to evaluate the items they brought to capture their stories. With permission, these stories were preserved through both digital tape/video interviews. The guests were then escorted by a History Guide to an area set up for preserving the items digitally. Using 3 KODAK Picture Saver Scanners, coupled with flatbed accessories, the E-Z Photo Scan team digitized the many treasured photos and documents brought in by community residents. The event encouraged individuals to bring personal items and have them digitized. Guests receive a high resolution digital image of each item for their very own personal preservation program. They also get a smaller resolution copy they can use to share, and connect with others. Where permission was granted, the Public History Center, will also be provided a high resolution TIF image for inclusion into its web-based history collection. All services were complimentary and provided at no cost.   Column/Show
